How to Treat Dark Circles

Posted by Edge

Aging causes discernible changes in the shape and health of our eyes over time. Dark circles are one of the more noticeable symptoms. Dark circles under the eyes can make a person appear undesirable, unattractive, and unhealthy. However, it is not just an age-related issue. They can also be brought on by a variety of factors such as lifestyle, diet, heredity, and even sleep disorders. While they are frequently inherited, they can also be caused by fatigue and other health issues such as thyroid imbalances, vitamin deficiency, and stress.

Here is how we prevent and treat them:
Dark circles can be difficult to treat. They often occur as a result of sagging skin around the eye area, which is more common in people with thinner skin. Lifestyle factors like smoking, lack of sleep, and stress can all contribute to dark circles. The following tips will help you minimize the appearance of dark circles:

Use eye cream before going to bed every night.

An anti-wrinkle eye cream that fights the appearance of crow's feet, dark circles, and puffiness.

*How to use: Once or twice daily, apply this anti-wrinkle eye cream under the eyes and around the brow area. If using in the morning, apply after SkinCeuticals AOX+ Eye Gel and follow with Physical UV Eye Defense SPF 50.

This eye cream is non-irritating and rich in antioxidants to promote bright and healthy skin around the eyes. Especially formulated for the sensitive area around the eyes, this formula combines Matrixyl, Omega, Vitamin C, pure Vitamin E, Rosehip seed oil, and Shea butter.

*How to use: Make sure your skin is dry and apply on upper and lower eyelids before bedtime and/or in the morning.

This product visibly combats everyday eye contour concerns: wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles and puffiness that leave the eyes looking dull.

*How to use: Apply morning and evening to the entire eye area, including the upper eyelid, from the inner corner to the temple. Also, apply in between your brows to keep your eyes looking young.

Apply a colour corrector and concealer around your eyes before applying your foundation or powder for an all-over refreshed look.

A skin-enhancing color palette of concealers and highlighters that reduces the appearance of imperfections and promotes a flawless appearance.

*
How to use: Try each shade alone or blend to find the best coverage based on your skin tone. For best results, layer over colorescience Skin Perfector or Foundation with a patting motion to press the product onto the skin. Continue layering until desired coverage is achieved.

A makeup concealer palette that hides the most imperfections.

*How to use: Use on redness, bruising, dark or light pigmentation. Also, use as an under-eye concealer.

Suitable for all skin types, this easy-to-use duo of shades allows for a custom blend and the perfect match. The silky formula delivers a smooth application and superior coverage to last. Upon application, begin by color correcting with the deeper shade, then blend and brighten with the lighter shade.

*
How to use: Apply gently and use regularly to help cover and improve the appearance of under-eye circles. Also ideal for highlighting the eye area.

A two-in-one problem-solving product to correct dark circles and conceal and brighten the under-eye area.

Try using an eye treatment formulated specifically for dark under-eye circles as part of your skincare routine; this will help reduce swelling and prevent future damage from forming under your eyes (you may even want to consider one that doubles as an anti-aging treatment).

AOX+ Eye Gel is a groundbreaking serum-in-a-gel that contains a synergistic combination of 5% pure vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid), 1% phloretin, and 0.5% ferulic acid along with powerful botanicals to protect the delicate eye area from atmospheric skin aging – environmental damage and premature signs of aging caused by free radicals. This refreshing eye serum targets visible signs of aging such as crow’s feet and fine lines and improves the appearance of puffiness, fatigue, and under-eye circles.

*How to use: In the morning, apply 1/2 pump per eye on fingertips. Apply on the area below the eyes, on the outer corners, and on the brow bone. Gently pat the gel until it is completely absorbed. Do not apply the product to the inner corners near the tear ducts, below the brow bone, or on the upper lid. Follow with SkinCeuticals Physical Eye UV Defense SPF 50.

A 100% mineral, tone-enhancing tinted sunscreen formulated for the delicate eye area. Formulated specifically for the unique structure of the thinner and more sensitive skin around the eye, Physical Eye UV Defense provides broad spectrum SPF 50 protection without migrating into and irritating the eyes. A unifying tint enhances skin tone while ceramides nourish, creating a smooth, optimal canvas for makeup application.

*How to use: In the morning, following SkinCeuticals antioxidant application, squeeze a pea size of sunscreen onto fingertips. Gently dab onto the entire eye area, including under the eyes, around the eyes, and on the eyelids. Finish with a SkinCeuticals broad spectrum sunscreen for the entire face.

The patented S2RM technology aids in reducing the appearance of puffiness, and dark circles.

Benefits:
  • Specially formulated for the delicate skin around the eyes
  • Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improves the look of dark circles and puffiness
  • Multiple antioxidants help fight free radical damage
  • Improves overall tone and texture of the skin
  • Oncology approved

*How to use: Apply Eye Serum around the eyes, twice daily for best results. Follow with the NeoGenesis moisturizer of your choice. Avoid direct contact with the eyes.

A gentle anti-aging serum created specifically for the delicate under-eye area. C Eye Advance+ contains 7.5% time-released vitamin C to brighten and revive the eye area. Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) works to renew the eyes by lightening dark under eye circles, encouraging collagen and elastin production, reducing puffiness, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, and protecting with potent antioxidants.

*How to use: Apply sparingly to clean skin by dabbing gently to the delicate undereye area.

Take breaks from staring at screens by looking away every 20 minutes or so; this helps reduce strain on your eyes over time while also reducing fatigue when working long hours at work or school!

You can reduce the appearance of dark circles under your eyes.

There are a few things you can do to reduce the appearance of dark circles under your eyes.

  • Stay hydrated with lots of water, especially before bedtime. Your body needs water for good skin tone and elasticity.
  • Get enough sleep each night—7 to 8 hours for most adults is optimal. Your body heals during sleep, so this step alone can make a big difference in your appearance.
  • Eat a healthy diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean protein sources such as chicken or fish, whole grains like brown rice or quinoa (pronounced keen-wah), low-fat dairy products such as yogurt or cottage cheese, healthy fats like avocado or nuts/seeds/nut butter instead of high saturated fat foods such as hot dogs/hamburgers/pizza, etc; avoid processed foods and sugar which can cause inflammation in the body leading to poor quality skin including dark circles around eyes if consumed frequently over time - especially when combined with lack of sleep which can lower levels needed for these nutrients!
  • Avoid alcohol consumption before bedtime because it causes dehydration which makes dry patches worse around the eyes! Coffee does not work well either because caffeine increases blood pressure and heart rate causing stress on vital organs like the liver and kidneys which could lead to more serious health issues later down life's road so try other hot drinks without caffeine instead.

Conclusion

The best way to prevent dark circles is to maintain a healthy lifestyle overall. The body needs a lot of vitamins and minerals to maintain good health, so make sure you're getting plenty of sleep, eating well, and exercising regularly (even if it's just a short walk every day). If there are any medical reasons behind your dark circles (for example, thyroid problems), see your doctor right away rather than waiting until the symptoms get worse before seeking treatment.
