Taming Frizzy Hair

Posted by Edge

Frizzy hair is a common problem for many people. It can be difficult to combat and even more difficult to understand.

Frizzy hair is caused by the structure of your hair, which makes it more prone to being damaged by environmental conditions like humidity or cold weather. The cuticle—which is like the outer layer of your hair, and what makes it look smooth or dull—is lifted off your hair strand by a chemical reaction that occurs when moisture hits the surface of your hair. This causes frizzy, flyaway strands that look dry and brittle.

It is frustrating problem to have, but it can be treated with a few small changes to your daily routine. Here are some tips for combating frizzy hair:

  • Wash your hair less often. It is advisable to wash your hair every other day or 2-3 days, but you should also consider factors such as your hair type and amount of oil production when making that decision.
  • Use sulfate-free products. Sulfates are often used in shampoo and conditioner because they help strip away the oils from your hair. However, this can cause frizz and dryness. You should look for sulfate-free products that are designed to moisturize your hair instead of stripping it away.

A frizz-controlling shampoo that gently cleanses while controlling the level of humidity in the hair. A nourishing blend of Abyssinian, camellia, and avocado oils helps to condition and smooth hair, restoring its strength and luster. Perfect for straight, wavy, curly, coiled, and tightly coiled hair.
*How to use: Massage shampoo throughout wet hair. Rinse thoroughly.

A luxe conditioner infused with caviar that smooths hair and fights frizz for a youthful, silky look. Pure caviar extract, rich in omega 3 fatty acids, proteins, minerals, and vitamins A, C, and D, help visibly improve the signs of aging hair: manageability, breakage, dryness, and dullness.
*How to use: After cleansing, remove excess water and massage throughout wet hair. Rinse well.

A sulfate-free formula that thoroughly cleanses the hair while maintaining vital moisture for increased strength and radiant shine.
*How to use: Massage throughout wet hair and scalp. Rinse thoroughly and repeat if necessary. For best results, use with Acai Anti-Frizz Conditioner.

A deep moisturizing conditioner that infuses the hair with the vital moisture and nutrients needed to maintain optimal strength and health of the hair.
*How to use: Massage throughout wet hair and scalp. Rinse thoroughly and repeat if necessary. For best results, use Acai Anti-Frizz Shampoo.

Moisturizes and restores the softness of rebellious and voluminous hair. Controls frizz in straight and curly hair. Provides a natural feel. Sulfate-free.
*How to use: Apply on wet hair. Lather. Rinse.

This product detangles, controls, and disciplines the frizz of unruly, straight, and curly hair. Provides intense moisturization, luminosity, and softness. No-rinse.
*How to use: Spread evenly through washed, towel-dried hair. No-rinse.

  • Invest in a deep conditioning treatment once a week. Deep conditioning your hair can help to keep it from becoming dry and frizzy.

The ideal treat for dry, frizzy and color-treated hair, Evo The Great Hydrator Moisture Mask Hydrating Treatment will help to restore your locks to their optimum condition. Intensely hydrating, it moisturizes and conditions your hair, leaving it shimmering with a healthy shine.
*How to use: After shampooing, work through wet hair. Leave on for 3-5 minutes. Use at least once a week depending on the condition of your hair.

Hydrates and conditions hair while it replenishes keratin protein, restoring strength, shine, and softness. Moisturizes as it protects hair from sun damage, leaving even frizzy hair silky smooth. Developed for all hair types and suitable for chemically treated hair.
*How to use: Apply to damp hair after shampooing. For deep conditioning, leave on hair for 15 minutes and rinse well.

Luxuriously bathing your hair in hydration, polishing its surface, and providing an effective humidity blocker. Shine is enhanced and control is regained.
*How to use: Spread evenly and massage into shampooed and towel-dried hair. Leave for 2-3 minutes, and rinse thoroughly. Use once a week.

  • If you have curly hair, look for a curl-specific product. These products are designed to work with your natural texture and help keep it from frizzing up.

A gentle, curl-enhancing shampoo that nourishes the curly hair structure and provides an exceptional shine. Cleanse and hydrate with the gentlest shampoo ever created for curls. Never disturbs hair’s cuticle for remarkably frizz-free locks.
*How to use: Wet hair, lather, rinse.

A mild cleansing shampoo that adds extra definition to curls, making them soft, shiny, and bouncy. Curl Control is enriched with a natural wood pulp with elastic qualities that intensify the curl pattern. After use, you’re left with lovely soft, bouncy, frizz-free curls.
*How to use: Apply to wet hair and gently massage. Rinse with lukewarm water. Repeat if desired.

A lovely conditioner that moisturizes deeply and adds softness, shine, and elasticity to curls, reducing frizz simultaneously.
*How to use: Apply to shampooed hair. Work through the hair and process for 1 to 3 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

This deep conditioner with a moisture preserving blend eases detangling and provides dry curls with hydration, definition, bounce, frizz control, and shine.
*How to use: Glide a generous amount through cleansed, soaking wet curls. Leave in 2 to 3 minutes. Rinse well. Use 1 to 2x a week or as needed.

  • You can also use an anti-frizz serum or leave-in conditioner on top of your styling products to help control frizz.

This anti-frizz hair serum is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins E, A, and C. They help repair and revive dry and damaged hair to make it stronger and frizz-free. It helps tame split ends and stubborn flyaways.
*How to use: Use on damp or dry hair, from mid-length to ends.

A lightweight serum-in-oil formula eliminates frizz + adds shine without weighing hair down or feeling greasy.
*How to use: Warm on hands. Apply to damp or dry hair. Finger comb through ends or apply around the hairline.

Ideal for dry, frizzy, dehydrated, or chemically-treated hair, this treatment hydrates, nourishes, and restructures hair without weighing it down.
*How to use: After your shower, apply to towel-dried hair and style as usual. Do not rinse off. Use when hair needs extra moisture or daily for added protection and shine of the hair.

A No Frizz Leave-in Conditioner weightlessly blocks humidity and smooths hair texture so strands are polished and frictionless. Ideal for all frizz-prone hair types, it nourishes and conditions, leaving hair feeling moisturized, frizz-free, and soft and smooth without feeling heavy or greasy.
*How to use: Apply No Frizz Leave-In Conditioner to damp hair, focusing on ends or dry areas. If desired, apply to dry hair in moderation to tame ends and flyaways. For best results, follow No Frizz Nourishing Styling Cream or No Frizz Weightless Styling Spray.

  • Use a heat protectant spray before blow drying or using heat tools on your hair.

Superior thermal protection spray that works from the inside out, helping to protect hair from thermal damage and breakage with a weightless formula with no added build-up.
*How to use: Section hair and spray CHI 44 Iron Guard evenly over dry hair. Start using your heat tool from roots to ends.

A heat-activated setting spray that provides a long-lasting, invisible shield around the hair shaft for ultimate color and heat protection.
*How to use: For best results apply section by section to dry hair, comb through, and style with your favorite hot tool. For blow-dry styling, apply to damp hair and finish as desired.

In spite of blow-dryers and flat irons, your hair remains healthy! The heat protection spray effectively and actively protects your hair against heat damage by straightening irons and other heated appliances. Blow-drying and fast restyling is now child’s play.
*How to use: Before straightening, spray Heat Protector into sections of dry hair.

Conclusion

In the end, there are lots of things you can do to reduce frizz in your hair. Play around with different tools and products to see what works best for you. There are many things that you can invest in to get your frizzy hairs under control. And remember: no one is perfect, so don't let frizzy hair stress you out, instead just continue to play around with different options until you find the one that works best for you.
