So, I have mentioned in another post that I have chapped lips. I have tried pretty much anything & everything that is out there. The only products that I have continued to use are Prescriptives Lip Specialist & Benefit's Silky Lip Balm. There's also Laura Mercier's lip kit, with the exfoliator, & the lip conditioner is awesome, but I don't care fore the exfoliator.
I don't mind paying the high price tags, so if anyone out there has any suggestions, please help me out!
PS- I live in Alberta, so it's very dry...plus, I work in an airport control tower, so the humidity is very low in there as well! |

The BEST,BEST thing for dry lips is Lip Fusion XL. It has micro injected collagen. It is intened as a lip plumping therpy, but I use it at night before bed, becasue it is is the only thing that keeps my lips so moist and soft. It contains hylauric acid( or something like that) which is the most hydrating ingredient you can get. It is $50.00, make sure you get the xl, the regular is $28.00. I have had my tube for over a year, so it lasts a long time. I use it every night and I even put it on my kids when they are asleep.

| Have you tried the medicated ones? I live in Manitoba and our winters are pretty dry and harsh on the lips. I use Blistex Lip Infusion (the liquid one with the roller ball) and so far it works pretty well. It's only a few dollars at a drug store. |

| Medique has a good lipbalm. I liked the Yu-be one which I got as a gift a while back. It smells like menthol or vicks vapo rub. But it was effective to soothe chapped lips. I generally like to find a good moisture based lipstick and use it as a lip balm. Jane Iredale Lip Plumper works well and gives a bit of color. It is a lip plumper so its very stimulating on the lips but it provides ample amount of moisture to dry lips and gives a subtle splash of color. On my kids I have used the Burts Bees, but they say it burns the lips and so they don't care for it much. My main rule is to avoid as much petroleum as possible in the product. |

I like Kiehl's #1 lip balm. My husband and I both put it on every night before bed. We have been using it for 5 years and love it! I also like Lip fusion in both the clear & coloured formulations. Both the Kiehl's and Lip Fusion lip products last a very long time. |

Thanx for your help everyone! Yes, I have definitely tried LipFusion...and you're right, in general, lipglosses are better than lip balms, b/c you don't have to reapply as often. But I use the regular LipFusion, and I get that white line where my top & bottom lip meet...which is just annoying! I've tried Blistex...and I usually keep a stick of the Nivea lip balm around...even tho I don't care for it too much, but best of the inexpensive ones. I haven't tried Kiehl's...next time I'll pop buy & check it out. |

| I haven't tried the Kiehl's lip balm...ooooh now i am tempted. I liked the Lip Fusion Lip Liner, the thick tipped pencil gives it an easy application. The color choices are very neutral and flattering...I don't know if the pencils did anything for plumping my lips, but the lip plumpers and definately the Lip Fusion XL was very plumping on my lips. At first it kinda burns but after a few seconds it settles down and you feel increased circulation on the lips for sure. |

I have this organic hemp chapstick/lipbalm that's very creamy and seems to work well (although it does smell), but I can't remember where it's from. I know The Body Shop sells hemp products though.
I have very dry lips as well. This is my night routine: exfoliate (gently) w/ a toothbrush and then (again gently) rub the dry skin off w/ a face cloth/towel. Next, I slather on the hemp lip balm and top it off a layer of Aquaphor (awesome product by Eucerin, similar to Vaseline -- I bought mine as Walmart, and I had to ask the pharmacy for it because they don't sell it out on shelves. Also, it's hit or miss whether they have it in stock or not, so they may have to order it). I exfoliate probably every 2-3 nights depending on how dry my lips are, but I lipbalm+Aquaphor every night and it seems to help a lot! In the mornings and throughout the day I just put on any lipbalm I have handy (and I have a lot, randomly placed everywhere lol).
Good luck! |

That's a great tip Lisa, thanx! I've tried the toothbrush thing, but I've been told to apply a bit of vaseline on prior to the brushing. I've gone back to using an exfoliator rather than the brush, laziness (maybe)? LoL I've heard so much about the Aquaphor products, and I have seen them behind the counter, thought it was a topical steroid, for eczema and stuff! I'll look into that, b/c my lips are now bleeding b/c they're so dry!!! And you're absolutely right, hemp does smell...A LOT! Right now, I'm using La Mer's Lip Balm, and when I use it more regularly, I'll know if it's working!!! |

| La Roche Posay Ceralip lip repair cream would be a good option. La roche Posay claims this product heals and protects severely dry, cracked lips. And you should give it a try I think since it differs from the usual wax-based sticks or oil-based balms. |
